As we\u2019re in the festive period now, I am sharing a snippet from my holiday short story <\/span>A Queer Old Christmas<\/span><\/em>. It\u2019s the fourth book in my Life Begins at 48 series, which follows Linda as she is made redundant and moves back in with her mother, who has dementia. If you want to read the others, they are only 99c on Kindle, or free if you subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, but this is a stand alone story. <\/span>A Queer Old Christmas<\/span><\/em> is set around six years after the first story. In this instalment, Linda and Tim are happily married, but find an unexpected addition to their family for Christmas. It won a Golden Squirrel Award for best holiday book.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cI was just asking your wife, Vicar,\u201d the woman almost spat the word wife. \u201cWhether she thinks all this homosexuality is a sin.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>

\u201cI see.\u201d Tim frowned and smoothed his shirt before placing his hands in his pockets. \u201cAnd what exactly about my wife gave you the impression that she might be a bigot?\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>

Linda raised an eyebrow across the table. She had been absolutely confident of her husband\u2019s support in this matter, and now the pair of them would go in for the kill. Her eyes fell on the awkward looking teenage girl, who had been sitting quietly next to her irate parent. Her eyes had been firmly fixed on the ground, but at their responses she glanced up at them hopefully. Tim pulled over a chair and sat next to Linda.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>
